Flea Market Finds Pour La Semaine Cinquante-Deux

Bonjour beautiful ones!

I hope all my East Coast friends are fending OK through Sandy?
I have been praying for you all.
What a horrible and frightening experience.

We're having our fair share of flooding here in the Pacific Northwest as well.... Not that it compares.
I think we might have broken Mother Nature.......

But on a completely separate note It's time for ....
FLEA     MARKET    FINDS!!!
Where I make a lot of noise and brouhaha and pretend that I found something fabulous for a song *winks*
More often than not my hopes of finding the Picasso in the attic are dashed, And I probably pay way too much, but this week I think I did pretty good! I have my fingers crossed that you'll agree?

I was making my rounds as usual at the Value Village (Quickly becoming my absolute favorite thrift) and I spied something sparkly in their front showcase. When I looked a little closer I realized that there was a whole LOT of sparkly!
Oh happy day!!
What is it about a crown or tiara that brings out the inner princess?! Am I alone in this?
As the sales clerk pulled out one crown after another I just kept saying "wrap em up!" I was feeling more than a little giddy!
I couldn't believe there were so many there at Halloween time. I ended up taking 6 in total (all but one) They are sooooo blingy fun! And large ones too! I believe at least a couple of them are Amaranth crowns? Maybe all of them? I don't know for sure. It looked like a beauty queen had decided to let em all go! Some are missing a few rhinestones so I'll be on the hunt for those. Do any of you peeps know a good source?
This is one of my favorites, it's very regal.

I think this more organic looking crown with colored stones is my favorite, but I keep oscillating....
Or maybe this one?...The blingiest of them all. This one looks like an Amaranth crown?
I tried this Amaranth crown out on Jeanne and she likes it! It's the plainest of them all, but maybe that's why it suits her. Simple peasant girl that she claims to be *winks*
Glory Issabella couldn't make up her mind so she tried on three at once!
Jeanne liked this one too, but in the end preferred the more simple style.
Glory eventually decided that this pretty tiara set in gold was her favorite. It brought out her lovely alabaster complexion *winks*
Speaking of crowns I found this lovely Marie Antoinette-esque boudoir doll on ebay and couldn't resist placing a crown on her also. Here she's lounging with her best girlfriend.
Isn't she pretty?! She has such darling blue eyes.
This boudoir half doll was also an ebay find. She has an 18th century look to her and is made from paper mache.
As usual their faces are a little chipped *sighs*
Her little friend came to me via etsy. I've named her Justine after the seller I purchased her from. She was lovely to deal with.
That's all my finds for this week. I hope you're all staying safe and dry with the power on!
I also hope you'll leave me a comment.
I LOVE to hear from you!
I apologize for not getting out and visiting all your blogs earlier. Lots of family health issues again. I'll be catching up with everyone this week! I can't wait to see what you've all been up to!

I've been out of town so I'm sorry I'm late with my visit.
Love your crowns Vanna and you always have just the touch for displaying your treasures. I love the tiny crown you placed on the head of your Marie Antoinette doll. So happy our friends on the east coast are out of harms way and planning their recovery. Glad you are not in the flooding area of the PN. Take care.....

Girl I love your tiaras, once I bought a gorgeous one from a Wedding shop closing and it was not a VV price I am sure, its all pearls. I have it with my other tiaras( not nearly as beautiful as yours) jealous
anyway

You have the vintage shopping angels following you around I know.

I do luck out once in a while
I am going to an estate sale Saturday morning and hoping to find treasures , like vintage beautiful buttons & tiaras
also hoping the Louis Vuitton Gods will be with me LOL
I went into St Louis LV store last week end and the sales lady was so , should I just say not nice , so I didn't purchase anything . ( maybe I shouldn't have said that ) oh well

anyway getting back to your treasures, all your gals look lovely with their new diamonds on their heads
I hope it doesn't storm while I'm in the PNW on a peninsula

Wow! Awesome finds. We have great thrift shops here (Prescott,AZ), but I would so love a proper flea market!

Love the crowns - and your models!

Cynthia said...

Wow! You really, really scored on those tiaras! I never find them. Oh, they're so beautiful. I'd have bought them all with no hesitation!

The crowns are splendid. They are so bling filled. I would have made a scene I tell you. The lady I bought my bust from had crowns/tiaras too but not as pretty as these. I just had to stop some where. I also bought a bunch of silver plate that I am going to stamp. I am vowing not to go to any thrift stores this week because I am broke. xo, olive

Oh…Vanna not only do you find the greatest things…you are an inspiration!! I have an old wedding veil with a tiara that I’ve had laying around trying to figure out what to do with it. When I saw your tiaras I knew what to do with mine!! I have a bust I got earlier this year and I named her Matilda. I bought her pearls and some other vintage necklaces but I just felt something wasn’t right. So now she has her tiara and veil and it is perfect!! By the way she told me I’ve been calling her by the wrong name….she is really Miss Havisham, not Matilda!!!!!

Terrible this time, of big prayers to those affected by Sandy!
I adore these crowns diadems!!! Impossible to find there of similar to the French flea markets, shoot! But hope well and have well!
Your collection of "poupées de salon" is impressive; impossible to choose the most beautiful, because they are him all!
I hope that the health of your family is going to get better, my father also is very sick.

Beautiful day dear Vanna

My were you at the right place at the right time, I cant believe you got all of them!

The women in our family have an enduring name for Value Village (our favorite store as well) and when you put your prettiest crown on...you can then say...I got it at The Village...!

We all call it The Village, and everyone we know now does as well!

Hugs,

Yup, you knew I'd be utterly mad about all the crowns. I'm pretty much inspired to go around to my local thrift stores (any stores that sell crowns actually) and search for my own collection. You have a complete set of crown jewels! I'm jealous, I'm jealous. Hehe.

As usual, you've found the bestest stuff! Hope all is well with your family. I've not got to cruise around and read blogs in at least a month, but thankfully it's just because of being way too busy.

Hey, I'm really proud of the $9.99 table you showed us in the previous post! You done gud!

I'm having Serious Crown and Tiara Envy right about now! *Winks* I too Adore Value Village, it's one of the few local Thrifts that hasn't jacked up the prices into the Stratosphere now that everyone is on the Vintage Bandwagon!

Great Scores... and just maybe that Picasso in the Attic is still a possibility?!? *Winks* Stranger things HAVE happened!

Oh, Vanna, I must have missed this post. I'm glad I came back to check. So, someone's been casting crowns? What a wonderful treasure you've found. Now, you need some more alabaster busts to display them on, right?

The boudoir dolls are lovely. Justine looks so alive, a real wild child!
