Hi peeps!!
Just a few things to share this week because of my shopping extravaganza last week *winks*
I'll start as usual with my favorite find. It's a vintage HUGE rose covered fully lined curtain that I found at a local antique mall for $60! This one curtain is 8' tall and 15' long! I couldn't get the entire thing in a shot because it was just too big for my poor camera. It could easily be cut apart to make several individual curtains, which is what I'm hoping to do. Love the green color and all the roses!! Isn't it gorgy??*sighs*
Close up.
Then I found this Italian shadow box jewelry display case on craigslist for $15.
Inside I have one new/old treasure and the other three are older finds but I haven't shared them here so I thought I'd take the opportunity now *winks*
The newest find is this cigarette case with a portrait of a woman. $12 at a local antique store. I will definitely be looking to collect more of these.
My next find is from a few years back. I paid $125 (which was actually half price) It's a micro petit point purse featuring a courting couple adorned with some stones and enamel flowers.
The back features a castle and swags with pink roses.
Lined with the palest pink ruched silk that is starting to tear and fray.
Next is this little silver mesh purse/compact that I purchased from an elderly neighbor for $15.
I would love it if these little blue stones were sapphires! *winks* But most likely pretty glass.
And finally this little beaded purse/compact was $10.
I found a new addition to my silver collection at the Goodwill. This silver glass caddy was on one isle for $1.99 and the dessert wine glasses were 50 cents each on another. So all told $4.99....Not bad I think!
And then I did discover something NEW to me...Maybe new to you also?
Let me start by saying I've been in love with antiques for most of my life and in all that time I've never known about this.......
The Odd Fellows!
Who and what are they? Weeellll....here's a little vid about them
The Odd Fellows (it turns out) are the Father of all fraternal organizations. Formed in England in the 18th century.
I discovered them when I was trying to find information about these antique red velvet collars that I'd found on craigslist. A set of four of them for $12. Sooo ornate and beautiful with their silver appliques, fringe and tassels. I thought originally they might have been priests vestments of some sort? But was quickly made aware that they were something else. I took a look on ebay and couldn't believe how cheaply these items were selling! Some at 99 cents plus shipping, and some of the beautiful velvet ceremonial robes were little more than $20. Also some beautiful ornate medals for a song!
I couldn't help but think of all the custom bag/purse and pillow makers who could use these old pieces in their designs. Am I the last one to know about these? Let me know! I feel I've discovered textile nirvana! Lol! *winks*
Each less than the cost of a latte!
And last (and definitely least) some vintage aqua lace trim from the Value Village for $1.99 and an egg vase for my etsy.
That's it for the flea market finds this week. I hope you'll come back next week for more thrifting fun!
And please leave me a comment and I'll do the same for you *winks*
I'd LOVE to hear from you!

Vanna, the curtain is beyond pretty. I think I would have a extra long bed skirt made out of it. The purses are lovely too. My blog has simply vanished off the blogrolls and I am far too tech dumb to figure out what to do about it but I am still here! hugs♥O
Interesting stuff about the Odd Fellows. I had no idea the vestments, badges were so inexpensive. I am familiar with the Odd Fellows, as we have a lodge here in our small town. It is a large historic building that is still run by the Odd Fellows as an assisted care facility. At one time (in the 1930s, that I know of) was an orphanage. The kids from the orphanage attended the local public schools, and the kids who had families were always envious of the orphans because the Odd Fellows had plenty of food available during the depression to feed the orphans and packed good lunches. Interesting, don't you think? Sally
Too funny..I just picked up an identical egg vase at the Goodwill this evening. Great minds think alike!!!
Oh Vanna,
What great finds. Everything is wonderful. Clearly you have such a gift for finding truly amazing things. I am absolutely in love with the Silver caddy glass caddy. That cigarette case was an awesome find. I also collect silver cigarette cases, however I have never, ever, ever been so luck to find one for $12. When I was a newbie blog voyeur I found this blog where the blogger collects these cases and opens them and uses them as picture frames. I have been collecting them ever since. I hate I did not note who the blogger was. You are just the best my dear.

Vanna, Vanna, Vanna. That curtain is sooooo dramatic. I love the cigarette case too, and.....oh, I love it all. Great finds as usual.
Vanna what great finds, love the curtains! And your display case with all the goodies are sweet! I've never heard of these men either, what a great find in these robes. What can I say "your good" Hugs,Pearl
More great finds! I have heard of the "Odd Fellows", but know nothing about the organization - I need to stop and read.
Hope you are enjoying your evening. Just came in from outside - Mosquitoes bad and high humidity - "Good old Summer Time in the South". :-D
Love the caddy and the cigarette case! Thanks for the vid...I had heard of the Odd Fellows over the years but didn't know the history; what a fabulous organization! The regalia you found is marvelous; beautiful rich color and embroidery.
What a trove you have today! Beautifully romantic stuff! the silver glass holder is pretty exotic, but then most of it is! Amazing!
My family have been Odd Fellows for ages. The women are called Rebecca sisters, and dont have nice red collars like that - at least not here in Norway. I absolutely love the display case with all the treasures inside!
Happy weekend wishes from Norway :)
I adore the rose fabric...even better when its teastained colours.
You have found some lovely treasures...

I love your little purses!! I have a collection of little purses too! Yours are much older, my are fairly modern.
I can't decide which one I love the most! I want to go shopping now! You certainly have a eye for treasure. Thanks for the beautiful post.

Love all your finds. The purses are just adorable and I am a sucker for anything with prisms. Love the pics!
Vanna, your finds are always so incredible. The purses are so sweet. We have an Odd-Fellow Lodge here in town, Mr. P went in his earlier years. The 10' bench I sold in the auction last year came from our Odd Fellow's in Liberty which is west of us about 27 miles. Love the egg vase. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with that beautiful curtain.
hugs ~lynne~
Oh my goodness, that curtain is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see what you do with it. I like your idea of several smaller curtains. And the silver items are wonderful. You have been on a great treasure hunt. Fabulous!
Hi Vanna,
I am always amazed by your finds! You have a dead eye for the good stuff :-) There are still Odd Fellows Clubs everywhere int he UK. You can go in and drink as a non-member, but you have to pay a 20 pence (10 cents) entry fee. They are old gentlemans drinking clubs. Nice background history though. I used to drink in the "Oddies" with my work friends as it was the closest bar to ur office.
Warm wishes
Di

Once again I'm stuck between loving you and hating you! I LOVE all your wonderful finds and they couldn't have found a better loving home!
Vanna, I am constantly amazed at what all you find and all of your collections are so varied. Fabulous treasures this week. That silver glass caddy is so unusual. Love it all. Hope you're having a super day. Hugs, marty
Ms. V. You is by far, the bestest shopper, I have evers seen. The fabric is wonderful and looks like it is of really good quality, like, Scalamandre' or something. I love the muted tones. Would love to have wall paper like it. You have enough to cover a chair or something. You new bags, are wonderful as well, and they are so hard to find these days. I have to spend money this week on a new lawn mower. I would have rather be beat up. Anyhow, I got that new and now I am being forced to sand all my porch floors and re-paint. This ol' river takes it's tole on paint. So I have to spend all my mad money on paint, as well. Maybe someday, I will have some extra money to buy a new goody. Love and Hugs from Sissy Dog.
I always love looking at your treasures. Beautiful! There used to be an Oddfellow hall where I lived and they had the BEST rummage sales. Everything was so cheap. The women's group was called the Rebeccas and they had great rummage sales too. Sadly I think all the members probably passed away and there is no Oddfellows hall rummage sales anymore.
Danielle
What a fabulous post love everything in it especially the little danty purses.
love the silver thing holding your party glasses
I want to go shopping with you . I hope to shop tomorrow at an estate sale and hope to find one new goodie

I think you need to open a museum instead of opening a shop someday with all your fantastic finds!! I can't believe the price on the glass caddy! Seeing it reminded me of a glass piece that I found so some years back. I am going to get it out and show it to you via a post or something and let my friend who has vast knowledge on so much tell me what it might be!
I was intrigued by what you shared about Odd Fellows. There was a building down the road from where I grew up that was an Odd Fellows hall. I always thought that was such an odd name but never really knew much about it.
The floral curtain/drape is beautiful!! Amazing to find such a large amount of fabric!!
Well it is the weekend friend and know you will be on the hunt again - can't wait to see what you bring home with you!

Hello,
You are so lucky to find all this beautiful stuf :-) and i agree it's a verry good price for the silver!
Greetings

Love the shadow box but that mesh purse with metal top is fabulous! The engraving around the lids rim, the different colors of the mesh, really beautiful and great price but you always buy well. You’re to cute Vanna with you “textile nirvana” find. A friend of mine turns those odd fellow pieces into stunning Christmas stocking and yes they make great fronts for pillows, great buy. So start sewing Vanna and make something stunning from your textiles!
Those Odd Fellows Vintage Collars are AMAZING!!! What 'scores' you snagged my Friend!

Dear Vanna,
Thanks for sharing about the Odd Fellows. We HAD a Odd Fellows Home for the aging that was torn down 2 yrs. ago. I felt sad when they took down this beautiful old historic building. I never knew the history behind it until now. Wish I had taken photos before they leveled it. I love that fabric you found. Are you going to make curtains? Beautiful...have a wonderful day...
~Shirley
Ms. V. If you peak under the lining, there may be a name on the fabric, over on the salvage edge. I wish you would peak, and let me know. RC and S
Morning Vanna,
I had to come back for another look at your amazing finds. Extraordinary!
Have a great day!

Vanna, I am in love with your collection of antique handbags and the Odd Fellows items. You always find the neatest things.
xo,
Sherry
Vanna, I want to shop with you soooo badly! Treasures just fall into your lap! That little silver mesh bag with the saphires (I prefer to think they are real)is so unique, and since my birthstone is a saphire, I think it should be mine. I can't believe you bought that from a neighbor. The shadow box is a perfect display place for all of your purse pretties. What a find the drapery was ~ it's beautiful. I can't wait to see what you do with it. I do know about the Odd Fellows, but I'm not clever enough to think of buying those treasures and using them the way that you did. Hope you have a fabulous 4th! laurie
