Are you a stoner?........

An IRON-stoner of course!! *winks* Happy April Fools Day!! Yes it's a little early I admit, but I won't be doing a post on April 1st so it's the best I could do.

This post is for my bestie girlfriend Gloria who asked me very nicely to share it with y'all. If you love tiques and a BIG laugh you're gonna LOVE her place!

Plus I was dyin' to join in over at Marty's tabletop party and I'm running out of table tops!
So I'm sharing a before and after of my ironstone cupboard. Is the "after" an improvement? I think it looks a little better, but it still needs to be tweaked for sure.

This is the before.
Do you see a common theme? Like pitchers coming out the wazoo?
It's that wacky compulsion of mine to buy the same/or similar shape over and over! Now I have to say on my behalf that I never paid much for any of them. A dollar or two here or there. I'd pick them up whenever the price was right.

Here is my after. What do you think?
Do you see the three large blue transferware platters? The three of them plus the soup tureen were $49 at the Goodwill....score!!
Here's my cupboard with the doors shut. I love this cupboard/cabinet, all the glass panes are arched/bubbled.

Left side.
And right...

Bottom

And top.

A few of my favorites. This shape in particular!

And this one

Or some art deco...I love that!

A favorite coffee pot.
And gravy boat.
This one turned pink. Love that!

I found this large platter at the Value Village a couple of days ago for $1.99.

A favorite tureen from Wedgwood with rams heads handles.

And a frenchy one from Red Cliff.

Nothing too grand or special here, but ironstone has always "spoken" to me more than most fancy porcelain. I love that it was used, probably daily. So many meals from long ago. If only it could share the stories.....

Well that's it for now. I hope you enjoyed my little collection! If you have any ironstone featured? Please come get me, I'd love to see it!
Vanna

You darling have no "little" collections much to my delight. The before was great to me but the after is more cohesive. In regards to your comment I cannot get any good images this week because it has rained and stormed every day and I will not post ugly photos...I am stubborn that way. Keep picking up the ironstone...you need more my friend. hugs♥O

Talk about a STONER, Ms vanna, you are the top of the stack. I think the cabinet looks great both ways. I am always up for a little color. The blue cabinet is so fun with all the white. looks like you have a little in the dish dryer in the background as well. My Mother, may she rest in peace, bought ironstone at country auctions when I was a kid,it was cheap and heavy duty, you see she had 7 kids to feed. It was often chipped and cracked after awhile, but never fear another auction was near. That was one way I got hooked on junking, I mean antiqueing. My mother took me along to the country auctions. At first I just liked the homemade pies they served, latter I learned to love the stuff. Now you see where you and I both are, over our heads with collections and stuff. I say, go ahead and just keep it coming. Thanks for sharing and especiallt thanks for stopping by. Richard at my Old Historic House

Hi Vanna! Are you becoming a dishaholic now too, my friend? LOL! This is really contagious. I love your plates and I see some more in the background. Funny, you talk about pitchers. I love them too but they're not easy to store, just like tea pots cause you can't put them on top of each other....Christine

Now I am going to shock all of you.I am new to this ironstone, but I love it. SoI am looking around. One stupid question though, how do you distinguish a piece is ironstone. will it be stated on the bottom and by the way I also collect pitchers but not antique ones. the recent one but very dissapointed by the material. it cracks and chips so easily and I am so heartbroken I have stopped buying and stated to invest on older pieces
