TREASURES AND NEW FRIENDS!!

This weekend I headed down to the Portland Antique Expo in beautiful Oregon! I planned to meet up for the first time with a couple of my favorite fellow bloggers. Let me tell ya, I was sooo excited!! I've read about so many of the Georgia bloggers getting together and I must admit I was more than a little envious *winks* And I would be meeting Isabel from Maison Douce who has one of the most fabulous dreamy blogs ever!! As well as her being an antiques dealer! (can it get any better? *winks*) Anyhoo, I took one look at Isabels booth and knew it was hers!! So full of wonderful things!! Here we are! And I must say, Isabel is just as warm kind and lovely as I thought she would be! She even took me to a few of her favorite booths...and boy howdy did I see why!

Then my new friend Michelle from Chocolate and Marmalade Tea joined us and we all had ourselves a good girl gab!

Actually we "gabbed" so much we pretty much missed the show! That was actually OK because both Michelle and I had broken our budgets by about the third isle! Lol! *winks* Anyhoo if you haven't visited her blog please do! She has the most beautiful pictures of comfort food! As well as her three wonderful kitties!Me Isabel and Michelle (note to self black boucle is NOT slimming! Lol!)
Isabel had the most beautiful wedding dress in front of her booth! The front was lovely...but the back!! oohhh la la!! Soooo fab! Check it out!

Isn't it wonderful???!!!

And here is one corner of her booth, full of so many charming things! Isn't that a darling pink desk and chair? And that lampshade is a neat one too!

And isn't this the cutest dresser?!!! Well Isabel gives you instructions on how to make your own here as well as a few other wonderful projects. I know mine would never turn out as darling as hers because she is the QUEEN of fabulous old fabric!! And look at the sweet concrete statue of a deer.

This wonderful old vintage pillow with pink roses went home with Michelle.

In retrospect I wish this vintage barkcloth pillow had gone home with me WAAAHHHHH!

This little coffee table was in Isabel's neighbors booth and was only $65

This one was more than a little bit more...but oh so charming!! Don't you agree?

I loved the old fabric covered drawers!

I REALLY wanted this one to come home with me. It's a late 18th/early 19th century letter box. The seller even offered it to me for $200 less than the marked price....but I was really trying to be good!

I saw these quimper plates and thought immediately about Debbie at Confessions of a Plate Addict

The seller told me I could have it for $35. I don't know enough about quimper to tell if that's a good price or not.....but Debbie always has pairs with a boy and a girl...And there wasn't any boy...so I passed. Au revoir!

This sweet little dish reminded me of my dear friend Ann at LIFEATANNSPLACE

I just know she would love it!

This italian tole candelabra was sayin' my name...but I wasn't listening "LA LA LA LA LAAAAA" Sheesh! Some of those items can really "scream at ya! *winks*

So did these sparkley warkleys!! And just look at the fabulous silk tapestry behind it! I might have to go back for that one. It has ME written all over it!

This spelter figural clock reminded me of my friend Gloria at Happy To Be
She has a collection of the most amazing clocks....Don't think she has this one, and the seller said I could take it home for $100. It's a big one too!

Then I spotted this one out of the corner of my eye and I went a runnin"!! Only to find that she was $2400!! NOOOOOO!!! That's WAY TOO MUCH!!! And I really wanted to take her home!! Sometimes the sellers are smoking crack....or just really out of touch with our current economy *sighs*

OK so for what I DID get. I had to be good at the show and keep to a $100 budget because I found this on ebay!! It was $247 and it's absolutely gorgeous!! It's a 6'x9 aubusson carpet featuring the most beautiful pink roses! I will be using it in an upcoming project which involves a chandelier as well *winks* So keep visitin'!

But I did find this pretty little dresser jar/casket. It's lined in blue velvet.

Here it is with a couple of others that I have.

And just look at this sweet antique cherub clock! Well he HAD to come home with me!!

In the larger context.

And this wonderful vintage dresser tray come from Isabels booth. It will always remind me of our meeting!

Cute rose detailing.

And last but not least, this little Victorian syrup pitcher. I can't wait to use it for Sunday breakfast!

Well thanks for coming along with me! The Portland Antique Expo show was a winner! I can't wait to go back for the next one! Vanna

Not sure I could have resisted 'sparkly warkly' .. the wedding gown is just so beautiful, the syrup pitcher I love too! Your clock is precious! I will have to keep tabs on the next Portland show and drive over the mountain. It only takes a little over three hours!

What a wonderful day!!! Can't decide if I like the treasures you left behind or the ones you brought home the best. It is so interesting to me how different the booths look on the west coast from those here in the mountain west. We are still mired in the jewel tones here as opposed to the lighter items there. I would love to shop with you and Isabel. She finds some of the most amazing things. Sally

Vanna, that coffee table was only $65.00 next to Isabel's booth!?? How did I miss that?? Isn't this pathetic...I'm still drooling after the fact. Ha! I love your post. Wow you took a lot of pictures! I love everything you got and love how you displayed them in your home, especially your little cherub clock. :) I am so glad I met you and Isabel. How old are you again? You look wayyyyy too young and beautiful than what you had mentioned to me. It was nice meeting your hubby too! We will have to do this again. It would be fun to hold an event in the Northwest for blogger get togethers. :)

P.S. Oh yea and note to self...that tight black (sort of ballet top) I was wearing....DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN...I could see one roll peeking out! Aaaaaah!

Vanna, how fun to meet some other bloggers. Ya'll looked so cute and looked like you were having such a great time! I was already jealous, but then I scrolled down to see all of the booths. Wow! That Quimper plate was a deal! You could have resold that to me and made a profit. Then I scrolled down and saw your finds, and my jealously intensified! BTW, that gorgeous carpet is definitely worth being a little short on change this weekend! I love all of your deals you got, BUT, if you get tired of that pretty girl sitting on a box right behind your pretty new dresser tray, don't even bother putting her on your Enabler site. Just send her to me with the bill. I love her! laurie

A quick HI to you while I am here at work! I found some crown things but the little silver cups were not there. We are heading to Phoenix tomorrow in a round about way and have several places I hopefully will be able to stop and check about them.

Came home to Jesse our dog having gotten sprayed by a skunk! He is traveling with us so DH is working at scrubbing the smell off him- poor dog is going to be hairless by the time he is done!! Actually we have an ozone machine and left him and the machine in the basement all night and it did a pretty good job- just a little whiff still here and there.

Well friend I probably wont have time to check in much so we will see you when I get back!

Hello Dearheart...

Girl, I was just so elated to read your sweet note...so happy that you stopped by! Ohhh yes...I have to mark my Frenchy bust addiction up to you, my friend! Hehe! You know...my little french girl is just a knock off (of course) but Gloria got the real deal from Len last Christmas! Mine looks identical to hers. Gloria's little girl is signed and all! I don't really know much about it but I know that she has quite a treasure! I'm pretty happy with my little copy though...hehe! If I ever run into one, I'll sure let you know!!!

I see (from reading your last comment) that you've been out and about doing a little antiquing...so happy to hear that! I hope that things are better with you!!! I think of you often and you're always in my heart and prayers!!!

Love ya Darlin'!

I thought of you all the time on my trip! My husband even accompanied me into an antique mall! It was filled with chandy's! If I'd known my new phone took pics (and if I'd known how to take them!) I would've taken pics for you! I think we're going back to Pigeon Forge and I'm thinking of buying one for my dining room and retiring the flowers to a regular arrangement on the table!! Anywho! Love ya! Missed Ya! and so happy you're back! God Bless you today V! Lauralu :)

You are sooooooooooooooooo funny. I just found your blog (you commented on my comment on Susan's (BNOTP) blog and so I clicked on you. What lovely lovelies you have. I especially liked your chandy post. I have a PB chandy (I guess that counts) over my kitchen island and a cute little girly one for my daughter (Lowes of all places.) No antiques for me. I also have one waiting for a transformation in my basement. She's an early 80s electric brass that I'm going to convert to white shabby with candles for a potting shed by Hubby is building as we "speak." Will be back for more eye candy. Glad I found your blog.

great blog. I have been following for a while. I have a dilemma today though. I have recently viewed a blog post, made a mental note to go back to it, then forgot which blog I was on. So, my question is have you recently posted a blog about a new rug in your kitchen? Thanks.

Mikey said...

First off, I love your blog! I hope you'll add to it! You have wonderful taste! I love all your collections! I see that we have many 'duplicate' items! As far as art nouveau jewelry boxes go, I found one in my glove box, and one in the trunk, when cleaning out my car! I don't have any displayed right now, but have a bunch tucked in a drawer here and a box there! I too, love crowns. I have several that you do! Thanks for stopping by! I hope you'll check back often!!! To answer some of your questions on my blog, shabbyfrenchcottage.blogspot.com, the huge chandy in the living room was a find at an antiques shop in Cold Harbor, VA. It is from the ballroom of an old hotel. It was in pretty bad shape when I bought it, but I've fixed it up--it is still missing some crystals. I just hung in from the ceiling over a plain Jane bare bulb keyless fixture. I lined it with some lace to further disguise the bare bulb. The rug was actually free. It's not in the best shape and has a few paint splatters, etc, but they are the same colors as the rug, and yes, I could pay to have in professionally restored, but for free, why bother? My ex-landlord gave it to me. He had it in a guest room of his home that he has since redecorated. In fact, he was using it as a carped pad under another rug! As far as cloches go, I've bought them at TJ Maxx, Marshall's, Homegoods, Tuesday Morning, Arhaus Furniture, Pier One, Goodwill, eBay, yardsales, and antiques shops. I've never paid over $25.00 for one. Most of them were in the $10 - $20.00 range.
